This gorgeous butterfly, poised on a blossom, is a Swallowtail, aka
Papilio Cresphontes. It was found flitting about in the butterfly
gardens in Knokke, Belgium. I don't know the size of this
particular lovely, but it may have a wingspan as large as 6 inches.
The Swallowtail can annoy citrus crop growers, but it's hard to hate
such innocent beauty. A graceful and humbling reminder of nature's
power.

Photography by Eddy Van Leuven of Flanders,
Belgium. Van Leuven has been taking photos since
childhood, a hobby shared with his father, who gave him his
first camera.
I am proud to display a
bit of his work. I especially like his nature and
architectural photos. And his people. Basically I
think he's a genius.
See more of Van Leuven's work. |
