This gilded wood Madonna and child sculpture, the sedes sapientiae or seat of wisdom resides in the gothic St. Peters church at the Catholic University of Leuven in the main market square of Leuven, Belgium. The original figures were sculpted by Leonard Nicolaas de Bruyne in 1442. Bruyne also sculpted choir chairs in the church. The original was shattered during World War II and today's figures are a replica.

Photography by Eddy Van Leuven of Flanders, Belgium. Van Leuven has been taking photos since childhood, a hobby shared with his father, who gave him his first camera.
I am proud to display a bit of his work. I especially like his nature and architectural photos. And his people. Basically I think he's a genius.
See more of Van Leuven's work.
