This yellow, black and white wasp spider also goes by the
name Argiope bruennichi. It is one of Europe's largest spiders.
Until 1980 it was rarely seen in the Netherlands. In Belgium they
are protected by law. They weave an orb shaped web
with a zigzag pattern. One appeared in a window well at our house
one spring. Next to walking sticks, twas the most remarkable
insect thing I've seen. They're huge! And creepy.

Photography by Eddy Van Leuven of Flanders,
Belgium. Van Leuven has been taking photos since
childhood, a hobby shared with his father, who gave him his
first camera.
I am proud to display a
bit of his work. I especially like his nature and
architectural photos. And his people. Basically I
think he's a genius.
See more of Van Leuven's work. |
