2-3/8" x 3" refrigerator magnet features a close up candy corn.
Candy Corn was first produced by an employees of the Wunderle Candy Company of Philadelphia in the 1880s and today's candy kernels are not much different than they were then. It is still made of sugar, corn syrup, honey and carnauba wax. How or when it came to be so strongly associated with Halloween is uncertain, but one researcher found no specific mentions in advertising of candy corn as a Halloween treat until after WWII. According to the National Confectioners Association, around 35 million pounds of candy corn are produced annually, 80% of that from September to November.
