Old Lacon brand trunk manufactured in Newtownabbey, Britain by the Zarges corporation of Germany. Zarges was founded in 1933 by the Zarges brothers of Stuttgart to manufacture ladders. Lacon containers were introduced in 1955 under license from the Light Alloy Construction Ltd. company. Though Zarges continues to be one of Europe's foremost producers of ladders and containers, it appears the Lacon brand name may have been retired. Zarges purchased Light Alloy Construction Ltd. in 2007.
This model is believed to have been introduced as a camping accessory. It can be easily collapsed to a suitcase size for storage. The lid cannot be completely detached. When opened, the lid is stored against the back (see picture).
