Vintage trouble light manufactured by McGill Manufacturing of Valparaiso, Indiana. The McGill company, founded around 1930 in Chicago as the Crescent Company, has been making industrial utility lighting for over 80 years. This is from its 3000 Series and was promoted as being vapor proof. This particular model was equipped with a metal shield as part of the cage.
The McGill name was adopted in 1910. McGill diversified over the years, becoming an important innovator in bearings for the automotive industry. In 1990 the company was acquired by Emerson Electric. Today McGill Electrical operates as part of Emerson's Electrical Group out of Rosemont, IL.
Lamp is shown here with a clear light bulb that is not included but if you like the look you can find such bulbs at the grocery or hardware store, isn't anything exotic.
