This large magnet pictures Nicola van Sype's 1581 map of Sir Francis Drake's 1577-80 circumnavigation of the world. Drake (c1540-1595) was an English naval admiral with a reputation that remains as controversial today as it was in his own time. Though knighted during Queen Elizabeth I's reign in 1581, there was a bounty on his head in Spain, where he was considered a pirate. Elizabeth financed Drake's voyage from November of 1577 to September of 1580. Five ships began the expedition in Plymouth, but only one survived, the Golden Hind (previously named the Pelican). Magnet size: 3-5/8" x 6" (9.20cm x 15.24cm) Printed on durable 30mil magnetic vinyl with a shiny treated top coating and hand finished edges. Strong enough for 1-2 sheets of paper. Simple text changes are free. What do magnets stick to? Wipe with damp cloth to clean. Do not use abrasives or bleach. Visit us on Ebay at Refrigerator*Magnets*Fun
